Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Chhagan Bhujbal has recently come forward to acknowledge the receipt of a death threat letter, raising concerns about his safety. Confirming the unsettling communication on Saturday, Bhujbal revealed that threats and attacks against him had occurred previously as well.

“I have received a letter at my office, stating that a contract of 50 lakh rupees has been given to someone to have me killed. The letter contains details such as car numbers, phone numbers, and locations of meetings. I have been receiving threats and calls for several months now. Since I am involved in politics, threats and attacks have occurred before,” shared NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal.

Expressing his resolve to address the issue, Bhujbal stated, “As usual, I have forwarded this letter to the police.”

Bhujbal’s stance on reservations for the Maratha community has been met with opposition from certain quarters, as he believes that it would impede the progress of genuinely backward classes. This has likely drawn ire from certain elements, leading to such threatening incidents.

Earlier, an unknown person sent a letter to Bhujbal’s office in Nashik, informing him about a contract to kill him. The letter claimed that the contract had been given to five individuals, raising concerns about Bhujbal’s safety among his supporters.

In response to the threat, Bhujbal’s supporters have demanded additional security measures to safeguard his well-being. The Nashik police have initiated an investigation into the matter and are also considering the necessity of providing enhanced security to the NCP leader.

This threat comes in the wake of recent political developments within the NCP, including the Election Commission’s decision to allot the party name and symbol to the faction led by Ajit Pawar. Such incidents underscore the challenges and risks faced by political figures, highlighting the importance of ensuring their safety and security in the face of potential threats.
