Congress leader Rahul Gandhi found himself at the center of controversy following a viral video capturing his interaction with a puppy during the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Jharkhand. The footage, widely circulated on social media, showed Gandhi attempting to feed biscuits to a hesitant puppy, prompting criticism from BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya and others.
In the video, Gandhi is seen offering biscuits to the puppy, which appeared hesitant and refused the treat. Subsequently, Gandhi handed the biscuits to one of the supporters present at the event.
Malviya took to social media to criticize Gandhi, alleging that he offered the rejected biscuits to party workers, likening the treatment of party workers to that of dogs.
Responding to the controversy at a press conference, Gandhi clarified the incident, stating that he called the dog and its owner over. He explained that the dog appeared nervous and shivering, and when he attempted to feed it, the dog got scared. Gandhi then gave the biscuits to the dog’s owner, who fed them to the puppy from his hand.
Asserting that there was no issue with the incident, Gandhi dismissed allegations that the man accompanying the puppy was a Congress worker, emphasizing that he did not understand the BJP’s obsession with dogs.
Furthermore, Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the BJP and its ideological fountainhead, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), accusing them of spreading hatred and violence in the country. Addressing a gathering during his Yatra in Jharkhand’s Khunti, Gandhi pledged to unite the people and address their issues, in contrast to what he perceives as the divisive tactics of the BJP and RSS.
The incident has reignited political tensions, with both sides using it as ammunition in the ongoing ideological battle. As the political discourse heats up, Gandhi’s response reflects his determination to confront the BJP’s allegations head-on while reaffirming his commitment to addressing the concerns of the people.
