Uddhav Thackeray’s Spiritual Journey: Prayers at Kalaram Temple in Nashik and Visit to Savarkar Memorial

Former Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray embarked on a spiritual journey on Monday as he visited the renowned Kalaram Temple in Nashik. Accompanied by his wife Rashmi Thackeray, sons Aaditya, an MLA and former state minister, and Tejas, as well as party Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut, Uddhav Thackeray participated in various rituals, including the sacred ‘pradakshina’ or circumambulation of the temple.

Earlier in the day, Uddhav Thackeray visited the memorial of VD Savarkar in Bhagur, the birthplace of the late Hindutva ideologue. Thackeray performed ‘Goda pujan’ and worshipped the Godavari river at Ramkund on Goda ghat, accompanied by Ganga Godavari Panchkoti Purohit Sangh president Satish Shukla and other members of the outfit who conducted the rituals.

It’s worth mentioning that the Shiv Sena (UBT) had expressed dissatisfaction with the ruling BJP-Shiv Sena alliance after Thackeray received an invite for the Ram Temple idol consecration ceremony in Ayodhya via speed post. Sanjay Raut, a key aide of Thackeray, had criticized the treatment, stating, “All film stars are invited, but the Thackeray family that has been closely associated with the movement is treated in such a manner.”

On Tuesday, Uddhav Thackeray is scheduled to address a public rally at Hutatma Anant Kanhere ground in Nashik on the occasion of the birth anniversary of his father and Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court sought responses from Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and other lawmakers of his group on Monday in response to a plea from the Uddhav Thackeray faction challenging Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar’s order declaring the Shiv Sena bloc led by Shinde as the “real political party” after its split in June 2022.
