The ruling tripartite alliance, known as ‘Mahayuti,’ is geared up for an assertive bid to capture 45 out of the total 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra in the upcoming parliamentary election. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule declared on Wednesday that the three ruling parties – Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena, the BJP, and Ajit Pawar’s NCP faction – will commence coordination meetings from January 14 at the district level.
Emphasizing the absence of controversy over seat-sharing, the BJP state president affirmed that the central leadership and the parliamentary boards of the parties will make decisions regarding the allocation of particular Lok Sabha seats. The unequivocal policy of Mahayuti is to vie for victory in every constituency.
During a joint press conference alongside Shinde camp Minister Dada Bhuse and senior NCP leader Sunil Tatkare, Bawankule outlined the election strategy, indicating that initial joint preparatory meetings among leaders of all three parties will take place at the district level. Subsequently, meetings will cascade to the taluka and booth levels throughout January, culminating in divisional-level meetings in February, graced by CM Eknath Shinde and Deputy CMs Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar.
Bawankule specified that roughly 300 leaders from each party, including Guardian Ministers of every district, will participate in the district-level coordination meetings of ‘Mahayuti.’
Reiterating the absence of internal conflict over specific Lok Sabha seats, Bawankule stressed that the decision-making process by the central leadership and the parliamentary board will quell any controversies. He indicated the coalition’s aim to secure every seat, regardless of party dynamics, echoing the prevailing public sentiment in favor of PM Modi’s return in 2024.
Bawankule projected a substantial exodus of workers and leaders from the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition before the Lok Sabha election, underlining the Mahayuti’s extensive preparations to secure over 45 seats in Maharashtra. He portrayed an unwavering confidence, foreseeing a scenario where only the top leaders of MVA will remain, while their cadre and other leaders join Mahayuti.
Expressing optimism, the BJP state chief anticipated Mahayuti crossing the threshold of 225 out of the 288 seats in the Maharashtra Assembly election scheduled later this year.
