The Congress party made significant changes in key leadership positions, with Sachin Pilot appointed as the general secretary in-charge of Chhattisgarh and Avinash Pande taking over as the general secretary in-charge of Uttar Pradesh. This move replaced Kumari Selja and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra from their previous roles, respectively.

Notably, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra transitions to a general secretary role “without any assigned portfolio,” as stated in the official announcement by the Congress.

The decision came in the wake of a recent meeting held by the Congress Working Committee (CWC), chaired by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge. Senior leaders, including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, were present during the meeting.

As per the announcement, GA Mir assumes the role of general secretary in-charge of Jharkhand, with an added responsibility for West Bengal. Additionally, Deepa Dasmunshi is appointed as the general secretary of Kerala and Lakshadweep, overseeing Telangana as well.

The positions of senior leaders such as Jairam Ramesh, K C Venugopal, Mukul Wasnik, and Randeep Singh Surjewala remain unchanged, with roles as general secretary in-charges of communication, organization, Gujarat, and Karnataka, respectively.

Further changes include Jitendra Singh’s additional responsibility as the general secretary in-charge of Madhya Pradesh, alongside his existing role in Assam. Deepak Babaria now holds the charge of Delhi, with an added responsibility for Haryana, according to the statement released by the Congress.

These appointments have been implemented with immediate effect under the direction of the Congress president.
