President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed heartfelt appreciation and satisfaction towards the rescue workers following the successful extraction of all 41 trapped workers from the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi, ensuring their safe return to the surface.
The NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) and SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) orchestrated a daring and meticulous operation that concluded just before 9 PM on Tuesday, marking a momentous achievement in the face of adversity.
PM Modi extended his praise not only to the trapped workers for their exceptional courage and patience but also commended the officials responsible for executing the perilous rescue, averting a potential tragedy inside the tunnel.
In a tweet in Hindi, PM Modi expressed, “The success of the rescue operation of our labor brothers in Uttarkashi is making everyone emotional. I want to say to the friends who were trapped in the tunnel that your courage and patience is inspiring everyone. I wish you all well and good health.”
He further added, “It is a matter of great satisfaction that after a long wait these friends of ours will now meet their loved ones. The patience and courage that all these families have shown in this challenging time cannot be appreciated enough.”
The Prime Minister also paid homage to the collective effort of the rescue operation, stating, “I also salute the spirit of all the people associated with this rescue operation. His bravery and determination have given new life to our labor brothers. Everyone involved in this mission has set an amazing example of humanity and teamwork.”
Amidst this triumph, around 8 PM, an ambulance carrying one of the workers departed from the tunnel’s mouth, en route to a community health center, symbolizing the start of their journey towards reunification with their families and recovery from this challenging ordeal.
