Brigadier PMS Dhillon, Commander of the Pir Panjal Brigade, has confirmed that the Pakistani Army violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in a bid to aid three terrorists who were killed in a recent encounter with Indian security forces in the Baramulla district.
The encounter unfolded in the Hathlanga forward area in the Uri sector of north Kashmir. Indian Army and Jammu & Kashmir Police, acting on specific intelligence, launched a joint operation to thwart an infiltration attempt. Alert troops swiftly engaged the three terrorists who attempted to infiltrate Indian territory.
“Two terrorists were eliminated, and their bodies were successfully recovered, while the retrieval of the third terrorist’s body was impeded by firing from a nearby Pakistani post along the LoC. Search operations are currently underway,” stated Brigadier PMS Dhillon.
The identities and affiliations of the deceased terrorists remain undisclosed, pending further investigation by authorities.
This incident occurred amidst an ongoing operation in Anantnag district aimed at neutralizing terrorists who have taken positions in the forested hills of the region. As of Saturday, the gunfight in Anantnag has entered its fourth consecutive day.
The violation of the ceasefire by the Pakistani Army and their involvement in aiding terrorists has raised concerns about the fragile situation along the LoC. Both India and Pakistan have faced intermittent tensions in the region, and this incident is likely to further escalate diplomatic and security concerns.
