Madhya Pradesh exhibited its lucrative tourism opportunities at the Mumbai Tourism Fair

Madhya Pradesh Tourism is excited to announce its participation in the Mumbai Tourism Fair, which took place from the 1st to 3rd of September 2023 at the prestigious Nehru Centre in Worli. With a vision to unveil the unmatched potential of Madhya Pradesh as a top-tier tourist destination, the exhibition spotlighted the state & apus’s diverse offerings ranging from historical sites, cultural treasures, captivating wildlife, and spiritual landmarks.

Madhya Pradesh often referred to as the “Heart of India,” boasts an array of attractions that appeal to a wide spectrum of travelers. The state is proud to be home to two significant Jyotirlingas, Omkareshwar and Mahakaleshwar, revered by pilgrims for their spiritual significance and architectural grandeur.

Enriching the cultural tapestry of India, Madhya Pradesh houses numerous heritage sites, including the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Khajuraho, Bhimbetka, and Sanchi. Additionally, historical cities like Gwalior, Orchha and Mandu have garnered recognition and secured their place on the coveted list of recommended UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The state is also home to numerous exciting festivals like Gandhisagar Floating Festival, Jal Mahotsav and Mandu Utsav. In addition to that, the first editions of Chanderi Festival and Kuno Forest Festival are also set to take place in the coming months of 2023. 

Wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers will find their haven in Madhya Pradesh, with an impressive collection of wildlife hotspots. The state boasts a remarkable count of six tiger reserve parks, twelve national parks, and twenty-four wildlife sanctuaries which are all set to host jungle safaris again from the 1^st October 2023. Madhya Pradesh stands tall as a tiger stronghold, with an astounding population of 785 tigers, claiming the coveted title of the “Tiger State.”

However, its conservation efforts extend beyond tigers; Madhya Pradesh proudly carries designations like “Leopard State,” “Wolf State,” “Vulture State,” and “Watch State,” showcasing its dedication to safeguarding diverse species. In a remarkable achievement, after 72 years since the recovery of cheetahs in the region, Madhya Pradesh has now earned the distinction of being recognized as the “Cheetah State” of India, adding yet another accolade to its ever-growing list.

Sheo Shekhar Shukla, Principal Secretary, Tourism and Culture, Government of Madhya Pradesh and Managing Director, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board highlighted that tourism fairs provide an exceptional platform for travelers, enthusiasts, and industry professionals to explore and discover the hidden treasures that Madhya Pradesh has to offer. Visitors at the Madhya Pradesh Tourism pavilion engaged with the representatives who provided detailed insights, travel tips, and personalized itineraries that cater to a wide array of interests.
