FCSCA conducts market checking in Kupwara 17 shopkeepers penalized, fines imposed

Srinagar: Acting on the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, Sagar Dattatray Doifode, the Enforcement team headed by Assistant Director, Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCSCA) on Monday conducted an extensive market checking in Kupwara town.

During the inspection of various markets, 17 defaulters (erring shopkeepers) were penalised and a fine of Rs 5600 was imposed. Moreover, 4 quintals of substandard, rotting vegetables were also destroyed on the spot.

Meanwhile shopkeepers were asked to display Government approved rate-lists in their shops and follow Food Safety and Standard Act (FSSA) and Consumer Acts strictly.

The erring shopkeepers were also asked to avoid selling substandard items and warned about strict action including seizure of their shops in case they are found guilty.
