Srinagar: Kashmir Premier League (KPL) T-20 cricket championship organised by the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps that’s underway in the valley had its league matches start on Wednesday.
Players of Kupwara Fliers the team representing Kupwara district, were selected by Abid Salam, ex Ranji Trophy player, after screening 30 players who played during the pre-qualifiers based on their performance, played its first match against Shahi Shopian at Batpura Stadium in Shopian town.
The toss was won by Shahi Shopian who decided to field first. Kupwara Fliers scored 194 for 6 in allotted 20 overs.
Shopian needed 15 runs from the last over with 4 wickets in hand. However, the Kupwara Fliers won the match by just 2 runs.
Junaid Ahmed Shiekh resident of Branwari Tikker who is a graduate
and plays for Kupwara Town B team was declared Man of the Match with 57runs and 2 wickets.
