Mumbai: Accusing the Shiv Sena leadership of former chief minister Uddhav Thackeray of mistreatment, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Monday after securing the trust vote in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, assured the house that he will not indulge in political vendetta and will work for the all-round development of the state and make the state free of the scourge of farmers’ suicide.
Replying to the motion of thanks, the Chief Minister assured the legislative assembly that the Value Added Tax (VAT) on fuel will be soon reduced. He also announced 21 crore rupees for the development of Hirkani village in Raigad district.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde rebuked Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and newly appointed Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Ajit Pawar who had earlier remarked that those who rebelled against Shiv Sena will not become the MLA again. He said the MLAs of his faction and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have come together on a common agenda of Hindutva and as a reason they will come back to power not by winning 165 seats but 200 seats in the next assembly polls in the state in 2024.
Shinde also alleged that he was feeling suppressed in the Shiv Sena for a long time. He said he devoted his life for the party because of which he could not devote time to his family. Fighting to hold back his tears while recounting his personal tragedy, he said that he gave his sweat and blood for his estranged party.
Shinde said that he did not stage rebellion in the party but mutinied against its leadership. He said on one hand emissaries were sent to hold dialogues but on the other side several allegations were made against the MLAs.
