New Delhi: In a major counterterrorism breakthrough, seven heavily armed infiltrators, believed to be members of the banned terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), were gunned down by the Border Security Force (BSF) while attempting to cross into Indian territory through the Samba sector in Jammu during the intervening night of May 8 and 9.
The BSF also delivered a powerful retaliatory strike on the Dhandhar post of the Pakistan Rangers, which was allegedly providing covering fire to aid the infiltration.
“In Samba sector of Jammu Frontier BSF, in the intervening night of 8th and 9th of May 2025, an infiltration attempt by a big group of terrorists has been tried, which was detected by surveillance grid. This infiltration bid was supported by fire from Pak Rangers post Dhandhar. Alert troops of BSF, neutralised the infiltration bid, killing at least 7 terrorists and caused extensive damage to the Pak Post Dhandhar,” said a BSF spokesperson in an official statement.
The incident forms part of a broader escalation following the barbaric terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 25 tourists and a local pony guide. In response, India has launched Operation Sindoor, a calibrated military offensive targeting terror infrastructure across the border.
Under Operation Sindoor, Indian armed forces carried out precise strikes on JeM training camps and safe houses deep within Pakistan, with a clear message of zero tolerance for terrorism.
Simultaneously, Pakistan attempted to widen the conflict by launching drone and munition attacks on several Indian cities, including Jammu, Pathankot, and Jaisalmer. However, the Indian defence forces foiled these efforts with swift and decisive action.
“Pakistan Armed Forces launched multiple attacks using drones and other munitions along entire Western Border on the intervening night of 08 and 09 May 2025. Pak troops also resorted to numerous cease fire violations (CFVs) along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. The drone attacks were effectively repulsed, and befitting reply was given to the CFVs. Indian Army remains committed to safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Nation. All nefarious designs will be responded with force,” read a statement from the Indian Army.
