Gautam Buddha Nagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s pivotal role in India’s journey toward self-reliance, asserting that the state now manufactures 55% of mobile phones in the country. Speaking at a major event, Modi emphasised that UP will also be a hub for India’s semiconductor and defence sectors.

“Our forces want to reduce their dependence on other nations. We are developing a vibrant defence sector in India. Very soon, in the factory set up with the help of Russia, we will begin manufacturing the AK-203 rifles. A defence corridor is being built in UP…” Modi said.

The Prime Minister further reiterated the vision of a completely self-reliant India, stating:

“…We want everything from chip to ship to be manufactured in India… Bharat jaise desh ko kisi par nirbhar rehna, ab manzoor nahi hai…”

Despite global uncertainties, Modi asserted that India’s growth story remains resilient and attractive. He emphasised that challenges are opportunities:

“…Disruptions don’t hinder us. Amid all these disruptions, India is strengthening the foundations for the coming decades. Our resolve and mantra is Atmanirbhar Bharat. Nothing can be more helpless than being dependent on others. The more a country stays dependent, the more its growth is compromised…”
