Ottawa: In a tragic incident, an Indian student has been found dead under mysterious circumstances in Ottawa, Canada. The deceased has been identified as 21-year-old Vanshika Saini, the daughter of Davinder Saini, an aide to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa from Dera Bassi, Punjab.

Saini had been pursuing higher education in Ottawa for the past two and a half years. She was enrolled in a two-year diploma course after completing her Class XII in India. According to sources, she had recently completed her final exams on April 18 and had started working part-time.

On April 22, Saini left her home for work but did not return, and her phone was switched off. She was scheduled to appear for her IELTS exam shortly after. Four days later, on April 26, her body was discovered at a beach in Ottawa. The cause of death remains unknown, though her family has alleged foul play.

The Indian Embassy in Canada expressed its condolences and stated that the matter is under investigation. “We are deeply saddened to be informed of the death of Ms. Vanshika, a student from India in Ottawa. The matter has been taken up with concerned authorities and the cause is under investigation as per local police. We are in close contact with the bereaved family and local community associations to provide all possible assistance,” said the embassy in a statement.
