In a significant development amid the ongoing political crisis in Himachal Pradesh, the state Assembly Speaker has taken drastic action by suspending 15 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs for allegedly disrupting proceedings and shouting slogans within the Chamber of the Speaker.

Among those expelled from the assembly are prominent BJP figures, including the Leader of Opposition (LoP) Jairam Thakur, Vipin Singh Parmar, Randheer Sharma, Lokender Kumar, Vinod Kumar, Hans Raj, Janak Raj, Balbir Verma, Trilok Jamwal, Surender Shori, Deep Raj, Puran Thakur, Inder Singh Gandhi, Dileep Thakur, and Inder Singh Gandhi.

Reports indicate that the assembly proceedings have been adjourned until noon in light of the disruptive behavior witnessed during the session.

Earlier today, LoP Jairam Thakur met with Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, pressing for a floor test against the Congress government. Thakur, addressing the media post-meeting, reiterated his stance that the current government has lost the mandate to govern, underscoring the BJP’s demand for a decisive floor test.

Adding to the political turbulence, BJP MP-elect Harsh Mahajan alleged that several Congress MLAs are in communication with the saffron party, hinting at a potential shift in power dynamics in the state.

The political upheaval in Himachal Pradesh further intensified with the unexpected defeat of the ruling Congress’s Abhishek Manu Singhvi in the Rajya Sabha election. Despite holding a comfortable majority in the state assembly, Singhvi succumbed to defeat against the BJP’s Harsh Mahajan, marking a surprising turn of events in the state’s political landscape.

As tensions escalate and allegiances shift, Himachal Pradesh finds itself at a critical juncture, with the suspension of BJP MLAs and the looming prospect of a floor test adding to the uncertainty gripping the state’s political arena.
