The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has successfully recovered 11 bodies from the tragic site of the devastating explosion that rocked the Blue Jet Healthcare Ltd factory in the MIDC complex at Mahad, Raigad district, approximately 170 kilometers from Mumbai. The explosion occurred on Friday morning, causing extensive damage and raising concerns about the fate of several individuals.
Ravi Prakash, the second-in-command of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Pune unit, provided confirmation on Monday evening regarding the recovery of these 11 bodies. These individuals were reported missing in the aftermath of the factory blast, and their retrieval is a significant development in the ongoing recovery efforts.
The state government had initiated an inquiry into the incident last week to determine the cause of the explosion and to assess the extent of the damage. Authorities are working diligently to establish the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
All the bodies recovered from the site have been transferred to the Panvel rural hospital for post-mortem examinations. Following the necessary post-mortem procedures, the bodies will undergo DNA tests at the Kalina forensic lab. These tests are crucial to confirm the identities of the deceased individuals and provide clarity to their grieving families.
The recovery operation is still ongoing as search and rescue teams continue their efforts to locate any remaining individuals who may have been affected by the explosion. The authorities are dedicated to ensuring a thorough investigation into the incident and providing support to the affected families during this difficult time.
