Bhiwandi: Zulekha Mohammad Ali, a 52 year old woman is struggling with her life as she has been facing one tragedy after the other in 2020. Her husband died due to kidney ailment while tragedy struck her younger daughter whose fetus died during pregnancy all in the span of one month. Now her 30 year old daughter is trapped under the debris for almost 18 hours. She is losing hope of seeing her daughter with each passing hour.
Zulekha Mohammad Ali (52) resides along with elder daughter Sabnam Ali on the third floor of Jilani apartment for the last 15 years. She has her own flat which was bought by her husband.
A survivor in the ground plus three storied Jilani building whose half portion of the structure collapsed at 3.45 am on Monday when they all were fast asleep.
Zulekha Mohmmad Ali said, “I woke up to answer my nature’s call and could not reach the toilet. As the building collapsed I was trapped under the debris. But I managed to escape as I got trapped under the upper level of debris. I was rescued with the help of locals within half an hour of the building collapsing”. She was taken to IGM hospital for treatment. However after getting first aid, she went back to the site of the building collapse to search for her missing daughter.
Sabnam Ali (30) who is the daughter of Zulekha ran an Arabic tuition class at her mother’s home. Sabnam could not be traced after 18 hours by the NDRF and TDRF officials.
Zulekha Ali while speaking to thenews21, “I have no son, only three daughters out of which one daughter Lugna Ali and her fetus died during the pregnancy in the hospital. My husband died due to kidney ailment. Now, I have no source of income. My daughter Sabnam used to bear the family expenses by conducting tuition classes”. The civic body has served notice that the building structure was weak and old. But I have not much money to purchase a new flat.
Nilofar Ubed Shaikh who is the younger sister of Sabnam said, “My sister has not any news yet. Now I am completely losing the hope of her alive”. So far, a death toll rises to 13 including seven children and 20 were injured. – By Narendra Gupta
