Yogi Adityanath Cracks Down on Illegal Drone Use in Uttar Pradesh, Warns of Gangster Act and NSA

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued a stern warning against the unauthorised use of drones in the state, especially those being misused to incite panic and spread misinformation. Labeling such acts as “deliberate attempts to destabilise peace,” the CM announced that those found guilty would face serious legal consequences, including charges under the Gangster Act and, if necessary, the National Security Act (NSA).

Speaking at a high-level review meeting on Saturday, CM Yogi declared that flying drones without prior permission is completely prohibited across Uttar Pradesh. He directed top officials—including the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) and the Director General of Police—to carry out immediate reviews of drone activity across all districts and to establish a statewide drone monitoring and response system.

“Any misuse of drones or aerial devices to create fear or spread falsehoods will be dealt with severely. We will not tolerate attempts to disrupt social harmony,” said the Chief Minister, stressing the importance of public trust and law and order.

The directive comes in the wake of growing public anxiety over mysterious flying objects spotted at night in several parts of Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring Uttarakhand. Over the past week, multiple reports have emerged of glowing aerial objects triggering panic in districts like Muzaffarnagar and Hapur.

In a bizarre case in Muzaffarnagar, police arrested two individuals for using pigeons outfitted with red and green LED lights to mimic drones. The act caused alarm across several localities before being exposed as a hoax.

Earlier, in Hapur district, a glowing object spotted in the night sky led to widespread speculation of drone surveillance. Upon investigation, authorities discovered that miscreants were flying kites adorned with LED strips—a deliberate act meant to incite fear. Several such kites were confiscated, and warnings were issued to those involved.
