Pune: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar in his long political career has never supported leaders who have committed mistakes. Time and again he has taken strong action in such incidents. But he has disappointed people by not taking any action against Social Justice Minister Dhananjay Munde at the party meeting held yesterday to decide on future course of action about Dhananjay Munde, remarked state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Chandrakant Patil on Saturday.
Speaking to newspersons, the state BJP president asked “Pawar announced that he would decide what action should be taken against Munde in connection with the allegations made by Renu Sharma after the police enquiry. In another words, Pawar has protected Munde. When Munde has accepted his relationship with Karuna Sharma, why Sharad Pawar is silent?”
Renu Sharma, a singer, has accused Social Justice Minister Dhananjay Munde of rape. She also alleged that police have refused to lodge FIR against Munde. The embattled Social Justice Minister in his social media post has refuted the charges. However he has accepted that he was in relationship with Karuna Sharma, sister of Renu Sharma, and has two kids with her. Munde also said that he has given his name to kids.
“Dhananjay Munde should have resigned by looking at sensitive nature of the case. Or Pawar should have asked his resignation on moral grounds. Accusations against Munde by Sharma are serious and that is why we have demanded his resignation. If he does not resign, BJP Mahila Morcha would protest across the state from Monday demanding his resignation over rape allegations”, added Patil. He further added that the BJP did not have any issue of whether the police, the CID or the CBI enquire the matter. “But the NCP should ask Munde to resign as the minister,” demanded Patil.
