Mumbai: In a riposte to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over its hue and cry over the mob lynching of two Sadhus in Palghar, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary and Spokesperson Sachin Sawant on Tuesday questioned the BJP, “why is there such a deafening silence?” over the brutal murder of two sadhus in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh.
Strongly condemning the killing of two sadhus in Bulandshahr, Sawant demanded stern action against the culprits. Expressing outrage over the incident, he said it was an indication of a complete disruption of law and order in the BJP-ruled state of Uttar Pradesh.
Three people, including two monks, were killed in the unfortunate incident of mob violence in Palghar. After the incident, Maharashtra police arrested 110 accused and a high-level inquiry was announced. It was immediately clear that rumors of thieves were responsible for the Palghar incident. However, the BJP tried to discredit the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government by giving a religious color to the incident. The same BJP has remained silent on the massacre of sadhus in Bulandshahr.
Sachin Sawant further said that this has exposed the duplicity and tendency to do politics even in times of crisis like Corona.
In connection with the incident at Bulandshahr, Sawant posed 10 questions to the BJP which are as follows.
1. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had called Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray immediately after the Palghar incident. When will he call the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh?
2. None of the leaders, including BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra, tweeted a protest. Isn’t this murder condemnable?
3. Is there any difference between the sadhus of Palghar and the sadhus of Bulandshahr?
4. The sadhus of Bulandshahr had earlier had a quarrel with the killer. Yet why were those monks not given protection?
5. Why was no immediate action taken against the killer after a quarrel with the sadhus?
6. Is this an intelligence failure of the Uttar Pradesh government?
7. Sadhus are being killed with swords by plotting murder during lockdown, isn’t it a failure of Uttar Pradesh government?
8. Is BJP going to demand CBI probe into this murder?
9. After the Palghar incident, will the BJP leaders who demanded the resignation of the Home Minister of Maharashtra, will they now demand the resignation of the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh?
10. Pro-Hindu organizations have called for a “sattvic agitation” after the killing of Palghar sadhus. Some BJP leaders are even giving up food for a while. Now, are these BJP leaders going to go on hunger strike for the second time to protest the killing of sadhus in Bulandshahr?
