Mumbai: Renowned Pakistani actress Ayesha Khan was found dead at her residence in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of Karachi on June 19, sending shockwaves across the Pakistani entertainment industry. The 77-year-old actress, who lived alone, was discovered after neighbours alerted the police due to a foul smell emanating from her home.
According to Karachi Police, when officers entered her house, they found Ayesha Khan’s lifeless body, which was estimated to have been there for about seven days. Initial observations revealed injury marks on her body. The police have sent her remains to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a postmortem to determine the exact cause of death.
“We are waiting for the actress’s son. Till then, the body will be kept in the morgue,” said Karachi Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed.
Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Farooq Raza stated that the initial assessment by the Station House Officer suggests she may have died of natural causes, but further investigations are underway to rule out foul play.
“According to the information of the Station House Officer, she died of natural causes. She was taken to the hospital for further investigation,” said Dr. Raza.
Ayesha Khan was a beloved name in Pakistani television, having starred in iconic serials such as Afshan, Ursa, Aanch, Bandhan, and Shaam Se Pehle. She had a long and distinguished career, earning the respect of audiences and peers alike.
