Mumbai: When will the atrocities on Dhangar community women stop? Dhangar leader and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLC Gopichand Padalkar has questioned Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Valse Patil.
A few days ago, a Dhangar community girl was kidnapped from a village named Antravali near Nevasa in Ahmednagar district. But till date no attempt has been made to trace that girl. Is that girl safe? Where is her whereabouts? The police have not been able to find out who kidnapped her yet? remarked Gopichand Padalkar.
“When the parents of this girl from the Dhangar community went to the police station to complain about her abduction, the police misbehaved with them, abused them and demanded bribes from them”, alleged BJP MLC Gopichand Padalkar.
The BJP MLC took a jibe at the government, saying that this government is not with the poor. That’s why the policeman who asked for the bribe has not been suspended yet. He should be immediately suspended for not handling such sensitive matter properly. “When I spoke to the Superintendent of Police (SP), he took down the complaint of the girl’s parents, remarked Padalkar.
Through a video message, Gopichand drew the attention of the government and especially Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil.
“I have these warnings that, as soon as possible, find that kidnapped girl and bring her back safely to her parents’ house and take action immediately against the policeman who misbehaved with her parents. Through the video Padalkar warned the government that if it does not happen as demanded then the whole Dhangar community will agitate, and if the agitation flares up, the government will be responsible for it.
