West Bengal health department directs all hospitals to be alert due to surge in COVID cases

In view of a surge in the number of new covid-19 cases for the past few weeks, the West Bengal health department has directed all hospitals to be and be ready to take in more patients.

In an advisory issued to all medical superintendents-cum-vice-principals of medical colleges and chief medical officers of health across the districts, the health secretary of the state Soumitra Mohan has directed hospitals to organize test runs of all equipments and Medical Gas Pipeline System to check their functional readiness.

They have also been asked to check availability and supply of oxygen cylinders and review their stocks of PPE, masks and other protective gears. Availability of all categories of manpower have also been sought to be reviewed. Agencies for supply of diet, biomedical waste disposal, cleaning and other essential services have also been asked to be put on .
