“We Are All Devastated”: PM Modi Meets Ahmedabad Plane Crash Survivors

Ahmedabad: A day after the catastrophic Air India crash that killed 265 people, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital on Friday morning to meet and console the injured victims, including the sole survivor, Vishwas Kumar Ramesh. Modi personally visited the C7 ward of the hospital, where 25 injured individuals — many of them medical students from BJ Medical College — are being treated following the devastating incident.

During his visit, Modi spent time speaking with survivors and closely interacted with the team of doctors and hospital staff to review the treatment being provided. The Prime Minister was briefed about the condition of each injured person and inquired about the survivor, Ramesh, who is still under observation in the trauma ward after miraculously escaping the fiery wreck.

Ramesh, who was seated near an emergency exit on the ill-fated London-bound flight, told doctors that his seat was violently ejected from the aircraft during the mid-air disintegration, which ultimately saved his life. Prime Minister Modi, visibly moved by the tragedy, offered words of encouragement to Ramesh and acknowledged his miraculous survival as “nothing short of divine intervention.”

Later, Modi expressed his condolences to the grieving families through a post on X (formerly Twitter). “We are all devastated by the air tragedy in Ahmedabad. The loss of so many lives in such a sudden and heartbreaking manner is beyond words. Condolences to all the bereaved families. We understand their pain and also know that the void left behind will be felt for years to come. Om Shanti,” he wrote.
