WB govt to take penal actions for not wearing masks, violation of social distancing norms

The West Bengal government has decided to take penal actions for violation of Social distancing norms and non wearing of masks in the wake of ongoing COVID pandemic. State Home Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay issued an order to this effect and directed district administrations and Municipalities for its strict compliance.

In view of steady rise of COVID cases the West Bengal Government has decided to enforce strict measures to contain the spread of virus . The State has registered the highest number of cases of infection and deaths on a single day due to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

According to the State Health Department sources record number of 669 people tested Corona positive during the period taking the total number of such cases to over 20 thousands . While the highest number of 18 persons died of the disease in the last 24 hours . With this total 717 people died of the infections so far in the State .

Over 13 thousands Corona positive patients have been discharged from hospitals after recovery as of now . More than 5 lakhs 19 thousands sample tests have been conducted . The rate of recovery of Corona positive patients has improved to 66 percent .
