Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has emerged as a notable choice for the post of Prime Minister in the latest India Today Mood of the Nation survey, securing the third spot among the leaders named by respondents.
According to the survey, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remained the leading choice with 49 per cent support, while Congress leader Rahul Gandhi stood second with 27 per cent. Vijay received 9 per cent support, placing him third in the survey.
The findings have generated political interest in Tamil Nadu, particularly among supporters of Vijay and his Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
Posters Hail Vijay as Future Prime Minister
Following the release of the survey findings, posters featuring Vijay as a future Prime Minister were reportedly put up in Thoothukudi.
The posters highlighted his third-place position in the survey and projected the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister as a potential national leader. The development has added to the political discussion surrounding Vijay’s growing presence beyond Tamil Nadu.
Vijay entered electoral politics through the launch of the TVK, and his political activities have attracted significant attention ahead of the state’s political contests.
Congress Maintains Rahul Gandhi Is Its PM Choice
The survey results have also prompted a response from the Congress, which is currently allied with the TVK.
The Congress has reiterated that Rahul Gandhi remains the party’s prime ministerial choice, signalling that the alliance does not alter its position on who it sees as its preferred candidate for the top post.
The issue could become politically significant as discussions around opposition alliances and leadership choices continue.
Udhayanidhi Stalin Criticises TVK
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin criticised the TVK, adding another layer to the political debate surrounding Vijay and his party.
