The political landscape in Baramati is witnessing rapid developments as contenders vie for supremacy in the upcoming elections. With the showdown between Supriya Sule and Sunetra Pawar intensifying, every move by MLAs and party officials holds significance. The recent entry of Vijay Shivtare into the fray promises to add a new dimension to the already dynamic contest. Following Sharad Pawar’s reconciliation with Anantrao Thopete of Bhor, Shivtare has stepped into the arena, appealing for support by invoking past grievances.

Sharad Pawar’s historic meeting with Anantrao Thopte, the father of Bhor MLA Sangram Thopte, marked a pivotal moment in local politics. Pawar’s aim was to garner support for Supriya Sule in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. Subsequently, Sangram Thopte pledged his allegiance to Sule’s candidacy.

Recognizing the political significance of Bhor taluka in the Baramati constituency, Vijay Shivtare recently engaged with Anantrao Thopte, urging him to remember past injustices and rally against the Pawar dynasty. In a candid conversation, Shivtare emphasized the need to uphold democratic principles by providing a platform for opposition voices. He recounted Pawar’s victory over Thopte in the 1999 elections and highlighted instances where public sentiment seemed to lean away from the Pawar legacy.

Despite setting aside personal enmities, Shivtare underscored the enduring resentment among constituents towards the Pawar family. He acknowledged that while he had forgiven past grievances, the electorate remained steadfast in their convictions. Expressing his intention to contest the elections, Shivtare sought Thopte’s blessings in his bid for electoral success.

During their interaction, Thopte sought reassurance regarding the political landscape in Purandar. Shivtare affirmed his stronghold in the region, citing widespread support garnered during previous electoral campaigns.
