Vice President Inaugurates Constitution Temples in 434 ITIs of Maharashtra

Mumbai: Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, has left behind a legacy that is unparalleled. The constitution is exceptional in every sense. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar stated that the Constitution Temples will serve as an inspiration for raising awareness about the Indian Constitution among the new generation.

Dignitaries also participated in a tree plantation drive and visited the Constitution Museum on the premises.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar emphasized that the essence of Indian culture is embedded in the Constitution. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar played a significant role in its creation. The Constitution is unique in all respects, and it is crucial to understand its core. Dr. Ambedkar dedicated his life to the upliftment of the underprivileged, and social justice is based on reservation, ensuring that the marginalized are integrated into the mainstream. The new generation must understand Dr. Ambedkar’s contributions, and the Constitution Temples will play a vital role in this endeavor.

While the world celebrates Democracy Day, India stands as the largest democracy, maintaining unity in diversity, thanks to its Constitution. Dhankhar expressed pride in this, stressing that being an Indian should be our foremost identity, and we should always hold the Constitution in high regard. Such initiatives are essential to instill this understanding in the youth, he added.

Dhankhar praised the initiative of establishing Constitution Temples across 434 industrial training institutes in the state.

Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan, in his address, commended the innovative initiatives taken by the Skill Development Department. He highlighted that the foundation of today’s Skill Development Department was laid by the Elphinstone Technical High School, where Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar studied between 1904 and 1907. The department has introduced schemes like the Chief Minister’s Youth Employment Training Program and job fairs, which have contributed significantly to reducing unemployment.

Governor Radhakrishnan further added that the Constitution Temples being established in Maharashtra’s industrial training institutes will ensure that students understand the process of Constitution-making and its relevance. The goal of the National Education Policy is to focus on skill development, transforming education to prepare students for the 21st century.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, addressing the event from Nagpur via videoconference, congratulated the Skill Development Department and Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha for undertaking this nation-building initiative.

Union Minister of State for Social Justice Ramdas Athawale, who was present, acknowledged the significant contribution of the Skill Development Department to the state’s progress under the guidance of Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha. He expressed pride in the inauguration of Constitution Temples in industrial training institutes and urged students to actively participate in this initiative.

Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha said that under the guidance of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, the department is moving forward rapidly. He added that the Constitution and the thoughts of Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar would reach the new generation through these Constitution Temples.

Prominent individuals who have made significant contributions in the social field, including Dr. Bhante Rahul Bodhi (Mahathero), Bhante Bodhishil Sthavir, Rajkumar Trimukhe, Balu Ahire, and Hanumant Londhe, were felicitated during the event.

The inauguration of the ‘Constitution Temples’ across 434 Industrial Training Institutes (IITs) under the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training, within the Skill Development Department, took place at Elphinstone Technical College and Junior College. Present on the occasion were the Vice President’s wife, Dr. Sudesh Dhankhar, Union Minister of State for Social Justice Ramdas Athawale, Governor C. P. Radhakrishnan, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis (via videoconference from Nagpur), Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Secretary of the Skill Development Department Ganesh Patil, Development Commissioner Pradeepkumar Dange, Vice-Chancellor of the Skill University Dr. Apoorva Palkar, and Director of the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training Satish Suryavanshi.
