Union government refuses to pay compensation to farmers who lost their lives in agitation, says ‘question of aid does not arise’

The Union government has informed the Lok Sabha that no farmers died in the year long agitation as per the information they received.

Opposition parties have demanded compensation for farmer’s families who lost their lives in a yearlong agitation. However, Agriculture Minister Narendra Tomar told Lok Sabha, “(The) Ministry of Agriculture has no record in the matter, and hence the question (of aid) does not arise.”
