London: West Midlands Police in the United Kingdom have launched a massive manhunt after a 20-year-old Indian-origin woman was allegedly raped in a racially aggravated attack in the Park Hall area of Walsall, northern England.

According to officials, police received an emergency call on Saturday evening following reports of a young woman in distress. Detectives later confirmed that the assault had racial overtones, sparking widespread outrage within the Indian and Sikh communities in the UK.

Detective Superintendent Ronan Tyrer said officers are working “around the clock” to trace and arrest the suspect. “We are doing everything possible to identify the offender. Our investigators are reviewing CCTV footage, collecting forensic evidence, and speaking to witnesses,” he said.

CCTV images released by West Midlands Police show the suspect as a white male in his 30s, with short hair, wearing dark clothing. Authorities have urged the public to come forward with any information, especially dashcam footage or suspicious sightings from the Park Hall area.

Community organisations, including Sikh Federation UK, confirmed that the victim is of Punjabi descent and expressed serious concern over what they describe as a pattern of racially motivated sexual assaults. The group pointed to a similar incident involving a Sikh woman in nearby Oldbury last month.

Although police have not officially linked the two cases, they confirmed that specialist officers are supporting both victims and ensuring their safety. Chief Superintendent Phil Dolby said an increased police presence has been deployed in the affected areas to reassure local residents. “We want to send a clear message — hate or violence against any community will not be tolerated,” he said.

Earlier in September, a man in his 30s was arrested in connection with the Oldbury rape case, which police also described as racially motivated. The incident reportedly involved racist remarks during the assault, prompting widespread condemnation from Sikh leaders, MPs, and human rights organisations.
