Has no dependents, no cars, owns three bungalows and a farm house
Mumbai: Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday officially declared property and assets valued approximately at Rs 143 crore. In his election affidavit that he filed along with his wife Rashmi Thackeray, son and Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray, son Tejas Thackeray at Vidhan Bhavan in the afternoon, Thackeray declared movable and immovable assets, which include joint properties with wife Rashmi, but does not include his two sons. Both Uddhav and Rashmi Thackeray own three bungalows and a farm house at Karjat in Raigad district. Ironically, both of them do not own any vehicle.
Thackeray filed his nomination papers for the May 21 elections to the 9 Elected by MLAs constituencies in the Legislative Council. Had he been nominated to the upper house from the Governor Nominated quota seats, the Sena president and Maharashtra Chief Minister would not have had to declare his financial status.
The 59 year old Uddhav Thackeray, passed his SSC exams in 1976 and did his Diploma in Applied Arts from Sir J J School of Arts in 1982. Thackeray is an professional Photographer.
In his 43 page poll affidavit, Thackeray has no criminal cases pending against him, but has 23 private complaints and FIRs filed against him mostly in connection with Saamana editorials, 12 of those cases have been closed. As per the Income Tax Returns filed for 2018-19, Uddhav Thackeray filed returns worth Rs 38.28 lakhs, whereas his wife Rashmi filed returns worth Rs 79.49 lakhs.
As per the poll affidavit details, Uddhav Thackeray has Fixed Deposits worth Rs 1.60 crore, wife has Fixed Deposits worth Rs 34.86 lakh. Investments in Bonds and Shares declared for self is Rs 21.68 crore and that of wife is Rs 33.79 crore. Uddhav Thackeray has Loan Liability of Rs 4.06 crore, but his wife has a Loan liability of Rs 11.44 crore. Thackeray possess Jewellery worth Rs 23.20 lakh, whereas his wife possess Jewellery worth Rs 1.35 crore.
The Thackeray’s own two Agricultural lands, one non-agricultural land owned by Uddhav Thackeray, a shop owned by Rashmi Uddhav Thackeray in Thane. Besides the Matoshree at Bandra East, the Thackeray’s own two more Bungalow plots opposite Matoshree. The total value of their immovable assets approximately comes to Rs 81.36 crore.
