Gadchiroli: In a significant operation against Naxal activities, two female Maoists were killed during an encounter with police forces in Gadchiroli district. The incident occurred near Modaske Village, under PS Gatta Jambhiya in Etapalli Taluka.
According to Neelotpal, SP Gadchiroli, intelligence indicated that members of the Gatta LOS group were camping in the forest. Acting on the tip-off, an operation was launched by Addnl SP Aheri Satya Sai Karthik, along with five C60 units from Aheri, assisted by the Gatta Jambhiya police team and CRPF E Coy 191 Bn, who helped in laying the outer cordon.
During the search, the police team came under indiscriminate fire from the Maoists. The forces retaliated, resulting in the death of two female Naxalites. A search of the area recovered an AK-47 rifle, a sophisticated pistol, live ammunition, and a significant amount of Naxal literature and other belongings.
Operations are continuing in the region to ensure complete neutralization of threats. SP Neelotpal assured that further updates will be provided following a detailed press briefing.
