Trump Says Tehran Reached Out After US Military Action
A new diplomatic and military confrontation has emerged between the United States and Iran after US President Donald Trump claimed that Iranian leaders had privately contacted him seeking an end to ongoing American strikes.
Speaking during an interview, Trump asserted that Iran approached Washington following a series of attacks and indicated that discussions over a possible agreement were still within reach despite the escalating conflict.
The US President also warned that further military action could follow if Tehran refused to accept American conditions aimed at ending hostilities.
Iran Rejects Claim, Calls It False
Iran swiftly dismissed Trump’s assertions, insisting that no such communication had taken place.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps issued a sharp response, describing the claim as fabricated and maintaining that Iranian officials had not contacted the White House.
According to the Iranian statement, Tehran remains prepared to respond to what it described as American aggression and rejected suggestions that it was seeking relief through private negotiations.
Military Activity Expands Across the Region
The latest round of hostilities has intensified concerns about a wider regional conflict. Iranian officials reported explosions in several locations, including coastal areas and strategic zones in southern Iran.
Tehran has also signalled retaliation against American military interests in the region, raising fears of a prolonged confrontation involving multiple countries and military installations.
At the same time, claims from Iran regarding actions in the Strait of Hormuz and against US naval assets have been challenged by American officials.
US Military Details Fresh Operations
The United States Central Command confirmed additional operations targeting Iranian military infrastructure.
According to the command, precision strikes were carried out against surveillance networks, communication facilities and air-defence systems believed to pose risks to US personnel and international maritime traffic.
American officials said the operations were intended to protect military forces and commercial shipping routes operating in regional waters.
Diplomatic Prospects Face New Uncertainty
The military escalation threatens to complicate efforts aimed at reaching a negotiated settlement between Washington and Tehran.
Iran’s representative to the United Nations argued that meaningful dialogue cannot take place under military pressure and warned against the use of threats as a diplomatic tool.
