31.23% voter turnout was recorded till 11 am on Thursday in the Tripura Assembly polls conducted in all 60 constituencies amid tight security, election officials said.
Men, women, and first-time voters in large numbers queued up in front of the polling stations well before the voting started at 7 a.m. in eight districts.
The election officials said that no untoward incident has been reported so far from any of the 60 constituencies where the balloting is going smoothly.
On Thursday, the voting for the Tripura Assembly elections started under heavy security. Voting began at seven am and will last until four pm. Over 28.14 lakh electorates are eligible to cast ballots, of which 14,15,233 are male voters, 13,99,289 are female voters, and 62 are of a third gender, according to the Election Commission. 3,337 polling places are open for voting.
