In a tragic development, the body of missing Territorial Army soldier Hilal Ahmad Bhat has been recovered in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. According to officials, Bhat was one of two soldiers reportedly kidnapped by terrorists during search operations in the forest area of Anantnag on the night of October 8. While one soldier managed to escape, Bhat’s body was discovered in the Kazwan forest area in Kokernag.

Following the incident, security forces launched a large-scale search operation to locate the missing soldier. The operation was initiated based on intelligence inputs, involving a joint effort between the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and other agencies operating in the Kazwan Forest. The search operations persisted throughout the night in hopes of finding Bhat alive.

In a heartfelt tribute, the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army expressed its condolences on social media platform X. “Chinar Corps honours the supreme sacrifice of the brave heart, Rifleman Hilal Ahmad Bhat, in line of duty for the nation. His courage and dedication will forever inspire us. Indian Army expresses deepest condolences and stands in solidarity with the bereaved family,” they stated.

Earlier this morning, the Chinar Corps confirmed that the soldier had been reported missing, intensifying the search efforts that culminated in the recovery of his body.

The loss of Rifleman Hilal Ahmad Bhat has resonated deeply within the community, underscoring the ongoing challenges faced by security forces in the region. His bravery and commitment to duty serve as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by the armed forces in protecting the nation.
