Tourists Visiting Mussoorie Now Required to Register Online as New System Launches

New Delhi: Starting August 1, tourists heading to Mussoorie will now be required to register online before their visit, as part of a new initiative by the Uttarakhand Tourism Department aimed at improving crowd management and enhancing tourist services.

The state government has launched a dedicated online registration portal where all visitors must enter their details before arriving in the popular hill station. The move comes amid increasing tourist footfall, especially during the monsoon and festive seasons, which has often led to overcrowding and pressure on local infrastructure.

State Tourism Secretary Dhiraj Singh Garbyal, in a statement, said the registration system is a step toward ensuring better tourism planning. “With this new mechanism, we will be able to accurately estimate the number of tourists arriving each day. This data will help us provide better services, manage traffic and safety, and reduce strain on the environment,” he said.

Garbyal also revealed that this system is part of a broader strategy, and similar registrations may soon be extended to other tourist destinations across Uttarakhand, including Nainital, Auli, and Chopta.

Authorities have clarified that the registration process will be quick, user-friendly, and available on mobile devices. No tourist will be denied entry for not registering immediately, but officials may begin enforcing the rule more strictly after the initial rollout phase.
