Patna: Dissent has erupted within the Bihar Congress over ticket allocation for the upcoming Assembly elections, with several party members accusing the leadership of favoritism and overlooking long-time loyalists. The controversy deepened after party spokesperson Anand Madhav announced his resignation from all organizational posts, alleging corruption and bias in the ticket distribution process.

In a sharp attack on AICC in-charge Krishna Allavaru and Bihar Congress president Rajesh Kumar Ram, Madhav claimed that “undeserving candidates, including criminals and agents,” were given tickets, while genuine and dedicated party workers were ignored.

“Someone who joined the party just two days ago and even abused Rahul Gandhi has now been rewarded with a ticket,” Madhav alleged, questioning the transparency and credibility of the selection process.

He further pointed to cases where leaders from rival parties were fielded on Congress tickets without even formally joining the party. Referring indirectly to RJD spokesperson Rishi Mishra, who has been nominated from the Jale constituency on a Congress ticket, Madhav said,

“A look at the list shows that even those who were in RJD until yesterday have been given Congress tickets.”

The internal rift was further amplified by senior Congress leader and MP Tariq Anwar, who publicly voiced disappointment over what he described as arbitrary decision-making.

“Former MLA Gajanan Shahi, who lost by just 113 votes in the last election, has been denied a ticket this time. Meanwhile, another candidate who had lost by more than 30,000 votes has been given another chance,” Anwar remarked, expressing concern that such moves could demoralize grassroots workers.
