Former Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav, the political heir of RJD founder Lalu Yadav, kicked off the Lok Sabha election campaign by releasing the Rashtriya Janata Dal’s manifesto, titled ‘Parivartan Patra’, on Saturday morning. In a bid to woo voters, Yadav unveiled a slew of promises aimed at addressing key issues plaguing Bihar and the nation, including economic empowerment, job creation, and infrastructure development.
Flanked by senior RJD leaders, Tejashwi Yadav highlighted the party’s commitment to fulfilling 24 promises outlined in the manifesto. Among the notable pledges, Yadav announced plans to construct five new airports in Bihar, located in Purnea, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, and Raxaul, to enhance connectivity within the state.
“We have brought 24 ‘jan vachan’ (public promises) for 2024. These commitments reflect our dedication to addressing the needs and aspirations of the people,” stated Tejashwi Yadav during the manifesto release event.
In addition to infrastructure development, Tejashwi Yadav vowed to grant special status to Bihar and implement the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) if the INDIA bloc secures power at the Centre. Furthermore, he pledged to kickstart the process of job creation from August 15, promising one crore government jobs for the youth nationwide.
Highlighting the party’s focus on social welfare, Tejashwi Yadav announced plans to provide cooking gas cylinders at a subsidized rate of ₹500. Additionally, he promised an annual financial assistance of ₹1 lakh to sisters from economically disadvantaged households on Raksha Bandhan, aiming to alleviate financial burdens and empower women.
Addressing the pressing issue of unemployment, Yadav criticized the BJP’s track record and reiterated RJD’s commitment to job creation. “Today, unemployment is our biggest enemy, and BJP people did not talk about this. They had promised to give 2 crore jobs, but we do what we say,” emphasized Tejashwi Yadav.
