Patna: Days after the Mahagathbandhan’s electoral setback in Bihar, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav — who was the alliance’s chief ministerial face — has officially been chosen as the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly.

The decision came during a crucial RJD legislative party meeting held at Tejashwi Yadav’s official residence on Polo Road, where both victorious and defeated candidates were invited. The meeting saw the presence of senior leaders including RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, former chief minister Rabri Devi, Rajya Sabha MP Misa Bharti, former state president Jagdanand Singh, strongman leader Surajbhan Singh, and several others.

Over nearly four hours, the party reviewed the factors behind its disappointing performance in the assembly elections. According to insiders, Tejashwi has instructed all defeated candidates to provide detailed ground-level feedback. He is expected to meet each of them individually to understand booth-level challenges, organisational lapses, and issues that may have alienated voters.
