In the midst of discussions over a possible cabinet expansion in Tamil Nadu, senior Indian National Congress leader and MP Manickam Tagore asserted that the political developments would strengthen the ruling alliance and reinforce the opposition bloc’s future electoral strategy.
Speaking in Chennai, Tagore defended the stability of the state government and projected confidence in the coalition’s performance going forward.
“Strong Momentum for INDIA Bloc”
Tagore said the anticipated cabinet reshuffle would energise the alliance and create political momentum for the broader opposition grouping ahead of the 2029 general elections.
He added that the developments would also strengthen the leadership prospects of Rahul Gandhi at the national level.
“This will be a strong momentum which will push Rahul Gandhi as the PM candidate,” he said.
Claim of Clean Sweep in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry
The Congress leader expressed confidence in the alliance’s electoral strength in the southern region, stating that the bloc could secure a complete victory in both Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
“We will be able to secure 40 out of 40 seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry,” Tagore said.
“Government Is Stable and Has Majority”
Rejecting criticism over coalition stability, Tagore maintained that the government continues to enjoy a strong majority in the legislative assembly and is functioning without internal instability.
“It is already a stable government. People who have been rejected by the people will keep on saying that there is no stability,” he said.
He further emphasised that the numbers in the House clearly support the administration and ensure smooth governance.
“Numerically Strong Government”
Tagore reiterated that the ruling coalition has adequate legislative strength and a stable support base to continue implementing its agenda.
“Numerically the government is strong, and it has enough support on the floor of the House. It is a majority government, and it will work for the people,” he said.
