Mumbai: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP Supriya Sule has expressed her strong disapproval of the recent decision to include Hindi as a third language in Maharashtra’s schools. Sule, who represents the Baramati constituency, said the move was taken “in a hurry” and could harm the state’s linguistic and educational identity.

As per the news agency, Sule emphasized that Marathi is the “soul” of Maharashtra and should continue to hold the top priority in the state’s education system. She argued that this decision undermines the cultural significance of the Marathi language and could have long-term consequences for the state’s education system.

“I have said earlier that this decision has been taken in a hurry. Marathi is the soul of Maharashtra, and it will continue to be number one. There is a lot of work to do in the field of education, and Marathi language must be the first language,” Sule said, while addressing a gathering.

She further raised concerns about the future of Maharashtra’s State Secondary Certificate (SSC) board, calling the move a “conspiracy” to undermine the state’s educational system. “I think this step is a conspiracy to finish our SSC board,” she added.
