New Delhi: The Supreme Court has issued notices to the NCERT, the Union government, and six states over a petition demanding the inclusion of transgender-inclusive sex education in school curriculums.

The plea was filed by Kavya Mukherjee Saha, a Class 12 student from Vasant Valley School, Delhi. In her petition, Saha expressed concern about the absence of transgender-inclusive Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) in NCERT and SCERT textbooks.

She has sought effective implementation of binding guidelines for gender sensitisation and inclusive CSE across all educational institutions nationwide, ensuring that the curriculum reflects equality and respect for all genders.
