Supreme Court hears concerns over non-functional tribunals in West Bengal SIR process
Lawyers raised concerns in the Supreme Court over the functioning of appellate tribunals in West Bengal’s SIR exercise.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday issued a notice to the Directorate of Enforcement (ED), seeking its response on a plea filed by Chaitanya Baghel, son of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, who has challenged the grounds of his arrest in the state’s alleged liquor scam case.

A bench headed by Justice Sanjiv Khanna took note of the petition and directed the ED to submit its reply before the next hearing. Chaitanya Baghel has argued that his arrest was made without proper justification and in violation of due legal procedures.
