Mumbai: Sunetra Pawar, the widow of late Nationalist Congress Party leader Ajit Pawar, was sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra on Friday, marking a significant political moment for the state. The oath-taking ceremony was held at Raj Bhavan in the presence of senior leaders from the ruling alliance and top officials.

Sunetra Pawar was chosen as the Leader of the NCP legislative party following Ajit Pawar’s sudden death, clearing the way for her elevation to the state cabinet.

Senior leaders from the Mahayuti alliance expressed support for the decision, stating that stability and continuity in governance were the immediate priorities. While reactions within the extended Pawar family and opposition parties were mixed, the government moved swiftly to fill the vacant post.
