Mumbai: At Reliance’s 48th Annual General Meeting, Google CEO Sundar Pichai spotlighted the immense promise of artificial intelligence (AI) for India, unveiling a new chapter in Google’s partnership with Reliance. Speaking through a video message, Pichai opened with a warm “Namaste” to Chairman Mukesh Ambani, reflecting the deep bond between India and Google.

“India has always been a special place to Google. It is home to some of the world’s most dynamic businesses, a thriving start-up ecosystem, and incredible amounts of creativity and ambition,” Pichai said.

Tracing back to a decade of collaboration with Jio that revolutionized internet access, Pichai emphasized that the next wave of transformation will be powered by AI. “The AI opportunity in India is extraordinary. It will transform every industry and organisation, from the largest enterprises to the smallest kirana store,” he added.

A major highlight of the announcement was Google’s plan to establish an AI-powered cloud region in Jamnagar, built in collaboration with Reliance. The facility will be backed by Reliance’s clean energy sources, connected through Jio’s advanced network, and equipped with Google Cloud’s cutting-edge AI and computing capabilities.

“As Reliance’s largest public cloud partner, Google Cloud is not only powering the company’s mission-critical workloads, but we are also innovating with you on advanced AI initiatives,” Pichai noted.

Looking ahead with optimism, he concluded, “This is only the beginning. Thank you, and I look forward to building India’s AI future together.”
