New Delhi: AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has launched a stinging attack on Pakistan’s military leadership after a viral video exposed Islamabad’s use of a Chinese military drill image to falsely claim victory in a so-called operation against India.

The controversy stems from an official dinner hosted by Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir, during which a memento was presented to political leaders showcasing what was described as Pakistan’s success in “Operation Bunyan al-Marsus.” The image depicted soldiers in a dramatic combat scene, purportedly from a four-day conflict with India. However, social media users and analysts swiftly identified the image as originating from a 2019 Chinese military exercise, not a Pakistani operation.

The blunder became the subject of widespread mockery across platforms like X (formerly Twitter). One user commented, “Pakistan is now using a Chinese drill photo to celebrate its own military operation. They can’t even produce original visuals of their own military action.”

Asaduddin Owaisi, currently on a visit to Kuwait, didn’t hold back during an address to the Indian diaspora. He ridiculed Pakistan’s attempt at military propaganda, saying: “These stupid jokers want to compete with India. They gave a photograph of a 2019 Chinese Army drill claiming it’s a victory over India,” as quoted by ANI.

His sharpest rebuke came when he added: “Nakal karne ke liye akal chahiye, inke pass akal bhi nahi hai” (It takes brains to copy, and they don’t even have that).

The embarrassing diplomatic slip-up comes at a time of heightened tensions between India and Pakistan. On April 22, a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam killed 26 Indian tourists. In response, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7–8, striking terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), eliminating over 100 militants.

Speaking on the absurdity of Pakistan’s claims, Owaisi added, “This is the level of absurdity we’re dealing with. If Pakistan can’t even fabricate properly, how can anyone take them seriously?”
