CM Devendra Fadnavis reviews MIDC–MSRDC infrastructure and land acquisition projects
Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis chaired a high-level review meeting in Mumbai on Tuesday to assess the progress of key infrastructure and industrial development projects undertaken by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC).
The meeting reviewed the status of major projects including the Shaktipeeth Expressway, Virar–Alibag Multimodal Corridor, Jalna–Nanded Expressway, several district-level expressways, and the proposed ‘New Town’ developments along the Samruddhi Mahamarg.
Chief Minister Fadnavis directed that land acquisition processes for infrastructure and industrial projects should be carried out swiftly, transparently, and with due protection of landowners’ interests. He emphasised that safeguarding the rights of farmers and landholders contributing land for development projects remains a key responsibility of the state government.
Officials informed the meeting that 8,969 acres of land are currently available across various departments for industrial development, while 20,431 acres have been newly acquired. Addressing the growing demand for industrial land, Fadnavis said MIDC should aim to make at least 100,000 acres of land available to meet future investment requirements.
He noted that investor interest is expanding beyond traditional hubs such as Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur to regions including Nashik, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and Solapur. District collectors were instructed to expedite land acquisition processes, with assurance of full support from the state government.
The Chief Minister also reviewed land acquisition progress for MSRDC projects such as the Shaktipeeth Expressway, Virar–Alibag Corridor, Nagpur–Gondia Expressway, Bhandara–Gadchiroli Expressway, Nagpur–Chandrapur Expressway, Navegaon–Surjagad Mineral Corridor, and the Jalna–Nanded Expressway.
Fadnavis directed that all ongoing projects should be planned for completion within the next three years. He further suggested acquiring large contiguous non-forest land parcels for industrial use and proposed transferring suitable government-owned land from various departments to MIDC at no cost. This, he said, would help provide affordable industrial plots, boost investments, and generate employment across the state.
Industries Minister Uday Samant (online) and senior officials from concerned departments were present at the meeting.
