Mumbai: The government should allow sacrifices in the state on the important festival of the Muslim community, Eid-ul-Adah or better known as Bakri-Eid, the state Congress vice-president and former minister Arif (Naseem) Khan requested chief minister Uddhav Thackeray.
After the Maharashtra government issued guidelines for celebration of Ganeshotsav in the state, leading Muslim leader from Mumbai have written to the Uddhav Thackeray to immediately take necessary decisions on Bakri Eid festival which is falling on August 1.

Bakri-Eid is coming up on August 1 and the government has not yet given any instructions on how to celebrate the festival.

As a result, unrest has spread among Muslim devotees and organizations across the state. In a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat and Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, Khan also demanded that an immediate decision be taken in this regard. Sacrifice is obligatory on this festival day, every year this festival is celebrated by the Muslim community with joy.
This year, due to the spread of corona, many festivals of all religions were not celebrated. However, like Ganeshotsav, consent should be given for sacrifices of animals on certain conditions like goats should be allowed to sold and slaughtered in some other places. The letter also said that the Muslim Brotherhood would be able to celebrate the festival with joy.
