A State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) constable was found dead while deployed on security duty at Maharashtra Lok Bhavan in south Mumbai, prompting an investigation by the Malabar Hill Police. The incident took place on Monday night inside the high-security government complex.
The deceased has been identified as Kaustabh Sangle (26), who was attached to SRPF Group 16 based in Kolhapur district. Officials said he was on guard duty when the incident occurred.
Police Recover Note During Investigation
During the preliminary investigation, police recovered a note from the scene. Initial findings indicate that the constable may have taken the extreme step due to personal reasons, although investigators have not reached a final conclusion.
The body was sent for post-mortem examination, and police have registered a case while continuing to examine all aspects surrounding the incident.
Investigation Underway
Officials said the investigation is still at an early stage, and forensic as well as other evidence is being examined before determining the exact circumstances that led to the incident.
The Malabar Hill Police are conducting further inquiries to establish the sequence of events.
