In an unusual incident, a SpiceJet passenger flying from Mumbai to Bengaluru found himself locked inside the flight toilet due to a malfunctioning door. The ordeal unfolded mid-air on Tuesday, January 15, as the man grappled with the situation for almost the entire duration of the flight. Fortunately, he was rescued by the cabin crew upon the flight’s landing at Bengaluru airport, and an unexpected source of comfort awaited him in the form of a handwritten note.

Upon learning about the passenger’s predicament, the onboard staff attempted to assist him, but their efforts to open the door immediately proved unsuccessful. Resorting to a handwritten note slipped through the gap in the door, the crew communicated with the trapped passenger, urging him not to panic.

“Sir, we tried our best to open the door; however, we could not open it,” the note conveyed. They instructed him to close the commode lid, take a seat, and assured him that they were landing in a few minutes. The message also conveyed that an engineer would arrive as soon as the main door was open.

The passenger, seated in the 14th row of the Mumbai-Bengaluru flight, inadvertently found himself traveling inside the confined space of the toilet, leading to an understandably claustrophobic experience.

The incident occurred on a SpiceJet flight that departed from Mumbai airport at 2 a.m. on Tuesday, reaching Bengaluru airport around 3.42 a.m. Ground staff promptly dispatched an engineer to the flight upon landing, successfully rescuing the passenger from the toilet confinement.
